Judy
So many maga zeenz 'n books.
Here are a quick few off my head.

Afterimage is a dandy publication from Visual Studies.
Joining some local groups like Lightwork in Syracuse. They publish excellent
current work of all kinds.
Camerwork in San Francisco does intriguing socially aware publications.
There's one in NY run by Coleen Kenyon I cannot think of right now.
Certainly there are : Double Take in NC, Aperture etc.

Books
There are 2 current ones on color photography : "Color Photography" by Henry
Horenstein is okay but the real good one is "Exploring Color Photography" by
Robert Hirsch.

Certainly a history book and I feel newhall's, Rosenbloom and LeMagny are all
good as is the Turner and Gernsheim books though I haven't checked the recent
updates.

Ansel's books are a must, particularly the negative and the print books.

David Vestal is always a good read. heart and sense.

John Berger books like "About Looking" and "Ways of Seeing"

An excellent book, muchmore up to date than Berger, is "Criticizing
Photographs" by Terry Barrett

and, if digital is the interest, an it ought to be, "The Reconfigured Eye" by
Wim. J. Mitchell.

Godd luck to her.

Cheers
Jack
