Actually, folks, if you've been reading the paper, or listening to the
radio (let alone reading Post-Factory !), you'll know that the price of
gold is dropping even as we speak ! I reprinted an editorial from the New
York Times, "Who Needs Gold When We Have Greenspan?," to go with Liam's
article about making your own gold chloride (another option according to
various reports).

The gist was that "much of the world is now quite happy to accept the idea
that a greenback backed by Alan Greenspan is just as good as one backed by
gold." Which is to say, countries are selling off their gold holdings,
which depresses the price still further. That article was dated May 4,
1999. Since then at least 2 countries have sold MORE gold, lowering the
price further, and freaking out the people who freak out when gold prices
drop. England was one country sold bullion ... maybe 2 weeks ago, I forget
the other(s).

Jon Bailey reported in his toning article that he buys his gold chloride
from Engelhard, which has a minimum order of $150, but prices unbeaten.
800/336-8559 ext. 4, or engelhard.com. Need I add that this (and other)
listings are in Post-Factory ??

However, I have also read recent reports saying, if you want the utmost
archivality, the liver of sulfur (poly-toner) & selenium are best. (Gum of
course is more archival than any of them.)

cheers,

Judy
