Hi Darryl,
We had a fancy in-line unit at KVCC but I never could get it to work
correctly and it was a big hassle to maintain.
We eventually bought a small X-rite unit that does 3 gallons at a time. No
muss, no fuss. It is fairly easy to remove the silver from the unit, which I
do about once per year. A couple of taps with a hammer and the silver falls
off the revolving anode (cathode?). The revolving anode is removed from the
unit by loosening one nut. A guy from Jackson Iron & Metal comes by to pick
it up and sends a check after it is assayed, usually around 95% pure.
It won't handle Blix though, just normal fixers.
Joe
