Ray, I made some "leaf laces" when I was small. Across the street from my
grandma's house, there were some big trees (all one kind) with big leaves. A
relative who lived in my grandma's house taught me how to make the lace.
Basically we just soaked the leaves in water. In 3-4 days the leaves' "meat"
would rot and fall off with some shaking, and the skeleton would remain (the
skeleton probably rots slower, but we stop the rotting when the "meats" are
gone). It is very simple.

The relative first said we could only use that type of leaves, but one day
she told me another kind of leaves from my grandma's garden could be used as
well. I am not sure if she knew for sure or if she just wanted me to
experiment. It looks like any leaves with strong veins (skeleton) can be used.
