I exchanged e-mail with Michael Smith, who wrote the View Camera article that
sparked the Azo discussion, to ask for his thoughts about whether platinum
negs would be printable on Azo. He said that printing negatives with a
density range greater than 1.8 is no problem, and that he does it all the
time on Grade 2 Azo. I also asked about options to control contrast through
use of paper developers. I referred me to his July/August 96 View Camera
article (I believe it is on his website, www.michaelandpaula.com) which
discusses use of a water bath with Amidol to soften contrast.
