To make a good B/W print you will have to make a B/W neg from the trans.
I have many very good prints in this manner.
In the past before I retaired my photo work involved constant travel.
I shot all my personal work on trans film as I did not have the time for personal B/W.

When I retaired I had time to make B/W negs from many of the trans from the past.

This is a very good whay to make enlarged negs for alt-process.
I have read about many ways to make enlarged negs . I do not know why but little has
ben written on making enlarged negs from color trans.
In my last show at The Leica here in NYC where Platinum@Palladium prints that were shot
on color trans. My best selling image was shot with a Leica with color trans in Paris
back in 1968.

You have great control of the final neg. A example you can use filters like you were just
taking the picture. You have control of the contrast ,size and more.
I shoot mostly B/W now one of the reasons is cost. Color is expensive.
If you want more info let me know.

Subject: B/W with color trans film?

A student of mine asked a question (noted below). I've a few ideas but
was wondering if anyone has anything better.

> Recently I saw some very good B/W prints of the Tibetan landscapes. The photographer names.Shong Gangming. He used
> Kodak E100S film instead of B/W films. I'd like to know how to make the same result as B/W film by using a color one?
> If color film can make prints as good as the B/w film, why bother using the color film solely? Do you have any idea?

Thanks,
Norman
