Hello all,

Still searching around for an answer to the lack of definition/detail in the
shadows on a PD print - in fact, I could describe the resulting piece as a
tiny bit flat even though there is a good contrast in the neg.

I just stumbled on to a possible answer to this problem.

On Jefferry's site under the subject of Developing, I quote "The developer
should be replaced rather than replenished. This was determined by the
Clearing Study which found that a heavily used developer can cause fogging."

http://home.att.net/~jeffrey.d.mathias/guidep/enhancing.htm

I recall reading, more once that many photographers prefer their developer
very brown and only occasionally replenished.

I'm using a single solution FO with PD, a Cold Bath Developer and therefore
a DOP process. What is the correct procedure - my guess is that there is a
wide range of opinions?

Many thanks,

Nick
