Nick, There are pH test strips that cover a variety of ranges. Some
will cover the range from 1 to 14 and other only a specific range of say
5 to 6. If you go the route of paper test strips, ask what they have
and order the appropriate range. This is the low cost alternative. The
pocket pH tester are in the price range of $40 to$80 and up. There are
many sources for these. The pool test kits work with an indicator and
would use up some solution. In some cases you can easily spare a few
milliliters, while other times you can not. Judy may have listed some
of these sources in her Post Factory publication. Triess in the Los
Angels area has much of what you may be seeking.
