Dear Eric,

I have a copy of "A Contemporary Method for Making Photographic Prints in
Platinum and Palladium" by Pradip Malde & Mike Ware (1986) in front of me
now. Page 19 on Drying the Sensitised paper is as follows:- " Dry the paper
using whatever facility you have available, and for the appropriate time.
Avoid bright light and remember not to let the drying temperature exceed 40
C".

Humidifying ....... " An hour before you are ready to print, transfer a
sheet of coated paper from the dryer or storage box to the Humidifier.
Place it face down in the box, shut the lid and leave it there for an hour
at room temperature (as close as 20 C as possible) .......It is important
to transfer the paper immediatley from the humidifier into the sealed
environment of the contact frame once the hour is up".

Page 23 .... "If you do not want to be bothered with the control of
humidity, then the most consistent results can be obtained by mixing the
platinum and palladium solutions in the ratio of 3:1 respectively. This
sensitiser has a contrast and speed that are fairly constant over wide
variations in humidity and it yields a long range of well graduated and
neutral tones".

                        Hope this helps......... Tony McLean.

Why not take a look at the latest issue of Camera & Darkroom magazine?
