I used Knox gelatin, I suppose that may be a variant that could cause
staining but I suspect the quantity of chrome alum you and I used might have
been different, I'll look at my notes and see when I get home. Also I
immersed the paper for three hardening cycles which also may be another
important variable.
Were you doing this for gum printing?
In my case I was blindly following instructions give in Dick Arentz's book
for platinum printing.
