The irony of this is that the photographer has less intimate (normally!) 
proximity to a model than a painter, who might take weeks or months with 
his subject (and can become *very* familiar!), whereas a photographer takes 
minutes, or at the most, a few hours.

I think, basically, the mentality is that "anyone can shoot a picture" 
while to be a painter requires much training and/or "genius" and therefore 
the viewer of a nude photograph tends to have a more personal involvement 
with the image. Oh, well.
