Hmmm, you must be watching the weather reports on CNN rather than having local knowledge from your location in Dallas, Texas.

But you are correct about the mudslides -- we are expecting them as the snow in the coast ranges is MELTING tonight, causing river
flooding (The location where 26 meets 101 is closed tonight due to melting snow and rain. This is between Cannon Beach and Seaside,
Oregon)

The "hllls" (== Coast Range) just to the west of Hillsboro (West of Portland) have been snow covered for the past 2 weeks....
Lots of snow over Thanksgiving in the hills between Salem and Lincoln City. I see them each morning as I drive to work. The snow
is down to the valley floor in Forrest Grove.

All the school systems between here and the coast were on Snow Routes or cancelled a week ago. This happens when they get more than
4" of snow but not otherwise.

The coast mountains get very little if any snow. Mud slides are much more
common that snow around those parts.
