More on red safelights

I had an experience similar to Judy's. I used to use red "party lights" which were clear bulbs dipped in a clear red coating. At first all was fine but ,after a while, I began to get fogging on
lith film. Checked the darkroom for light leaks and found none. Then noticed that some of the
coating on the red bulbs had come off. Not a lot, just in a few small, pinhead-sized areas. i.e.
hardly noticable. So I dumped the bulbs and the problem disappeared.
Went to a store that sold stained glass and had some pieces of red glass cut that would fit in my commercial, yellow safe lights. Works great.
