Rechargeable batteries are a problem. they take a long time to recharge and
have a lot less capacity than the good non rechargeable kinds. ( the type
that fit inside the camera) So you can take 10 pictures, wait several hours
, take 10 pictures, on and on. If you are close enough to AC to recharge
the batteries just use the AC adapter. Has anyone pointed out that with
rechargeable batteries you are on a downward slope with respect to capacity
everytime you recharge? So the more you use them the fewer pictures you will
be able to take with each recharge? If I were serious about the images I was
going to take, and was going to be away from Hover Dam, I would use the
disposable batteries. As mentioned the AC adapter is nice if one is close
enough.

Personally I think an adapter to power these things off a car battery would
be better. With this one could get a motorcycle battery to lug around.
while a little heavy, I expect the memory storage would fill up before this
size battery would need a recharge. And if you remained close to your car
you have almost infinite capacity.
