Try using Kadak's Crocein Scarlet.
One way to apply is similar to Spot Tone:
Mix solution; spread onto glass or plastic sheet and let dry;
using damp (not wet) brush, pick up some of that spread and apply as
needed.
It is best to have enough to make a slightly lighter spot on the print.
In the print, use Spot Tone in a similar manner to add density to the
spot.
Note the various Spot Tone colors can be mixed prior to drying on the
sheet so as to match the color of the print (I find it best to have
several typical colors ready to go and the plastic sheet (8x10) stored
in an old film box to keep clean.

The trick is the damp, but not wet, brush.
