Miracle (or anyway marvel) #1: we had a pair of cardinals in our backyard
yesterday. The lady was quite dun, the gentleman exquisitely bright. NYC
is, by the way, a pit stop on northern migration route & we do get these
thrills. In recent years, hummingbirds and a fine range of bright yellows.
Also a ruby throated... oops, I forget, white breast with rosy red heart
shape on it.
Miracle/Marvel #2 is that Post-Factory #6 has also arrived on the
premises, and is now in preparation for its migration. I mention this
because sending to Europe has been greatly complicated by new postal
categories, rules and rates, so that I plan a batch transshipment to
London, then remailing European Community rate -- sending directly by
airmail now costs $4.80 apiece, surface mail costs $3.80 and takes
forever. Which is to say, if anyone reading these words has planned to
renew or subscribe but hasn't yet, email me ***OFFLIST**** to be included.
Also, I've offered free intro copy to new subscribers for cost of
postage.... offer still holds, but makes sense to do it with the "batch"
to Europe. Postage to US & Canada remains $1.50 & $2 respectively... for
the nonce. (Other figures on request.)
I'll put a summary of Issue #6 online soon, really.
