I don't know quite how this pinhole camera is constructed however when I
have my students create one we place the pinhole OVER a small hole made in
the camera.
That fact blocks most of the 'shiny/bright' aspect.
#2 . . since we need to attach the brass/copper or aluminum shim (or use one
purchased from Pinhole Resource) we do so w/black photographic masking tape
and paint the inside where any bright areas exist, with India ink.
Those 3 things provide a pretty darned black hole (astronomically speaking
and referring to the infinity of visual thoughts which may pass through this
Lilliputian portal).
For a "shutter" we take this same black tape, about two inches of it.
About one inch is adhered to the area above the aperture.
About 1/2 inch is folded onto itself @ the bottom to provide a "handle."
Where the tape covers the aperture, take another small piece of tape and
stick it to the back of the tape so no gluey substance can 'stick' to the
aperture and build up to clog the portal.
Voila. All is dark and fit for action.
