I am looking into Cone's Piezography BW Pro24 system. However, it is
difficult since Cone seems to want to sell examples of his products to
those who are potential buyers. I will have to wait until the finances
in hand and try then (about $7K to get started). It is sort of a "catch
22", can't know if I want to buy it unless I buy it. Even a car
dealership will offer a test drive.
An important feature I noticed is that his driver will work the printer
in 16-bit. This has a strong potential of addressing the posterization
issue, although Photoshop will have to catch up (GIMP is there). If
anyone else has tried this system for making negatives, let us know.
And better, figure a way to show some examples. The traveling portfolio
could do this, if it ever gets unstuck from what ever black hole it
seems to have gotten close to.
