I'd been to Soho Photo before but not on foot, so I carefully followed
instructions on the card, which said "between West Broadway and 6th
Avenue." However, when I got to Canal Street I noticed that "6th avenue"
was quite far west, definitely west of West Broadway, and I thought how
can those yomps get the address wrong on their very own announcement?

BUT, when I got to the gallery I noticed a sign saying "Sixth Avenue" to
the EAST of West Broadway.... I chalked it up to the engaging freedom of
Tribeca. They evidently jogged "Sixth" (which I think becomes Church at
Canal) over to the east, or maybe they just had a few extra signs and
stuck them up at random. (Tho if you think that's bad, try the Village,
where West 4th St crosses 10th & 12th Streets & that's the easy part.
After 40 years I still get lost.)

BUT, did you know there's one spot at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge
where you can photograph the entire height of the Woolworth building? I
was photographing around there some years ago when a passerby showed me
this "secret" location, then asked if he could kiss me. (He probably
missed his mother.)

best,

Judy
