Listmembers may find 'A New Image: Why Pros Go Digital', in the Circuits
section of 18 October NyTimes worthwhile reading.

One interviewee states that he 'sees a day in the near future when
photographers will only use film as a "craft choice," the way fine art
photographers make more expensive platinum prints.'

Fair enough.

There's also a small piece titled 'Teaching Photography With Analog Tools.'
It states 'As for darkrooms and the chemicals used to develop photos by
hand, many instructors say they will become obsolete. But until students
can afford professional-quality digital cameras, most schools will continue
to use darkrooms and teach a decades-old process.'

There was no discussion of the handmade print.
