Dextrin is the glue that was used on the lick 'em postage stamps. You can
make it with starch and lemon juice or vinegar. Mix the starch into water
to make a thin slurry, add a drop of acid and warm gently. The mix will
turn clear when the dextrin forms. It's not a whole lot different from
clear gravy.
