George,
POP paper wants a contrasty negative, and type 55 ordinarily produces
negatives that require higher than normal contrast silver paper. That
indicates it isn't a good match. I've heard that people have had good
results using selenium toner to intensify type 55 negatives but I don't know
if the effect is strong enough to bring them up to POP range. Testing is the
only way to find out.---Carl
