Thank you both for replying to this post. The water definitely is a factor.
I don't have any way to test the pH, but I developed a print on fabric in
distilled water today and it did not bleach. I will also try changing
fabrics.
I still wonder though, why does this make such a difference with fabric and
hardly any at all with paper?
