Regarding contemporary methods, another thought occurs. "Le bulletin" of the
Société Française de Photographie (no. 12, dec. 2001, p. 11) has a short
article on a Bayard colloquium that was held in Breteuil, France, last year.
It includes a small illustration by Tania Passafiume, which is labelled,
"positif direct, juin 2000". Apparantly, she works for the George Eastman
House; you might try to contact her there.
