We went off on a tangent, so I have put the conclusions
together here for people who have not followed the thread.

1) VDB needs a hypo bath. There is substantial silver in the
unexposed parts of the image, even if there is no visible staining.

2) It was possible to cause a tone change in a fully fixed VDB
print by using a sepia toner. I leave it to the reader to decide if
this is relevant to their circumstances.
