Ektonol is not a toner. Its a print developer which uses
metaborate, or rather a mixture of Borax and hydroxide, as
the accelerator rather than carbonate. The powder version is
discontinued but it is still available as a liquid
concentrate as Ektaflo Type 2.
From the MSDS Part B of the powder has the hydroxide in
it. The liquid version contains potassium metaborate. If you
can't find the relative weights of the components you might
be able to figure out what is gong on from the pH of the
liquid version.
Ektonol is quite good stuff.
