If the Epson is too rich for your budget --- I have had good luck with my
Microtek.

I have the ScanMaker 4900 - it has 4800 x 2400 DPI Optical - 48 bit USB. I
think it was around $150 -

You might want to check that out - I found it to be great bang for my bucks.

General consensus has the Epson 3450 pegged as a best buy. If there is a
Sam's Club nearby, they go for $350.00.
