The problem of staining appears to me to be is that the paper absorbs the
stain. Where it comes from probably is not as important as doing something
that actually eliminates it. Making the paper so that it does not absorb the
stain can be accomplished by using a dilute coating of Gesso on the paper
prior to coating it with the gum emulsion. There are probably other
solutions that can be used to accomplish this, but gesso works. Another
approach is to use discarded resin coated photo paper that has been fixed and
washed and this gives excellent results and you will have not worry about any
staining.
