Hi Stimpy:
Here is the thread from where you were quoting my quote: "La chambre d'art imaginaire".
Anyhow, there is a wonderful book by André Malraux: "Le musée imaginaire". Is a must read book for us art lovers. Besides the concept of the "imaginary museum", he also introduces another concept: "the song of change" (traduction of Alberto Manguel)("le chante de
la metamorphose"). This concept is about how, we contemporary viewers are able to establish a dialogue between all forms of art that we have seen from
either our time or from other times and how we use this knowledge when we are viewing a work of art. Because of this knowledge, we are able to have different responses to what we are viewing creating in us an "imaginary museum".
As we can see, the more we see the more we are able to have a larger "imaginary museum". Hence, the more we have seen the more profound this dialogue would be. In my case, I haven't yet finish my "Chambre d'art imaginaire." And I presume I never will.
Regards,
Alejandro López de Haro
