Hello, friends:
The Garage Annex School for Book Arts is pleased to add the following 2-day
workshop to our schedule. Amaryllis offered Prints (from Photopolymer Plates)
earlier this year and the students were so enthusiastic we've had numerous
requests to offer another opportunity.
Prints (from Photopolymer Plates)
November 910 (Saturday & Sunday)
$145 plus $80 materials and lab fee
Instructor: Amaryllis Siniossoglou (see biographical information below)
special location: UMass Amherst, Massachusetts
Would you like to explore printmaking using the latest
development--photopolymer plates? If so, this workshop is designed for you.
You will have the opportunity to work in the printshop at the University of
Massachusetts, where all equipment and materials will be provided (plates,
etching press, ink, paper). You may opt to do drawings on mylar. And/or, you
may choose to work with photographs altered and manipulated with Adobe
Photoshop, and printed on transparent film. In either case, your art will be
transferred as mirror images to delicate photosensitive polymer plates by
exposing it to UV light. The art is photoetched onto the plate, you ink the
plate, and run it through the press. Images will be printed with permanent
inks on archival papers.
No previous printmaking or computer experience required.
As noted, materials and equipment needed for printing are provided. Please
bring gloves, a roll of paper towels, ruler, pencil, drawings and/or
photographs, and an old shirt or apron.

Amaryllis Siniossoglou
Amaryllis Siniossoglou studied drawing and painting in Athens, Greece,
sculpture at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, France,
and received an MFA in Sculpture and Printmaking from the University of
Massachusetts in Amherst. She has been trained in traditional book binding
at Kaereios Library in Andros, Greece. During the last decade, Amaryllis has
taught a broad range of art classes and workshops including book arts.
Currently she is teaching at the University of Massachusetts.
In her personal work, she creates sculpture in bronze and terra cotta,
prints, and artist's books. She has a strong record of national and
international exhibitions and competitions.
