Judy's, as usual, cogent reply to my query agrees much w/my own
sentiments. After teaching for so long many students are no longer peers for
sure. So ,the question in regard to who/what one could/does teach in the
realm of Art took me by surprise. The Barrett book is simple and
straightforward and does only deal w/photographs but that very simplicity
does aid the neophyte.
Arnheim and Berger are also very good but I feel, outdated. Judy's own
compilation, "Mutiny & The Mainstream" contains pertinent info more up to
date.
My hope was to have someone come across a fresh approach. Though Michael's
mention on the potter (Centering in Pottery, Poetry, and the Person), also
old (40 years), was a lovely choice. But, my wish is to be hip and up to
date.
Thanks
Jack
