As I recall, from my Mass Communications Law class in college, (and it's
been a while)
there is no law against photographing anything or anyone in a public
place.
Anything that anyone can see is available for public consumption
unless you are requested by the (recognizable) subject,(not someone in
the public eye, because they give up a certain amount of their privacy
by being in the public eye, like politicians) not to take photographs.
But this was a class for aspiring photojournalist, drawing the lines of
privacy, how far you can go into someone's life to get the
story/picture.........

One thing I've been wondering is: is it legal to stop somebody from
photographing in a public place?
