I am developing Efke PL 25 in 8x10 and 5x7. I am having trouble getting rid
of the anti-halation backing. I'm using a JOBO CPP-2 w/rotation between 3/4
(reduced from P after reading Sandy's advice). I intially was using Pyrocat HD
2:2:100. The negatives came out fine, but the time at 72 F was 6 minutes. There
was some light staining. I decided to reduce the concentration to 1:1:100 to
extend the normal development time. The film speed test (zone 1) negatives are
pink. They also show some streaking and fingerprints from my gloves. ( I've
never had fingerprints with gloves before). Question is how to remove the
anti-halation backing without affecting the stain?
Here is my procedure:
. Presoak in distilled water 2 min
. Pyrocat HD 1:1:100 (416ml for 5x7) 10 min
. Distilled Water stop 1+ min
. TF-4 Fix 4 min
. Wash (Zone VI washer) 20 min
. Photo flo
. Air dry
BTW, the presoak water comes out purple. It's really something. I really like
this film and would like to solve this problem. The PL 25 builds impressive
density.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
Cheers,
Charlie
