Using the droppers in either Levels or - better - Curves will do
this. Create a Curves adjustment layer. Then double click on the right
hand dropper (highlights) in the curves dialog - this will bring up
the colour picker. You can type in RGB values as required. Repeat with
the left hand dropper (shadows). With the shadow dropper selected,
click on the image where you want the shadow to be. Pixel values will
adjust. Select the highlight dropper and click where you want the
highlight to be. Your image will now run from the pixel values you set
for the shadows to those you set for the highlights. You can then fine
tune the shape of the curve if required.
