Were you using Pictorico OHP, or some other 'paper'? I tried using an
1160 with MIS Ultratone inks, and got a regular dot patterning in even
midtones from the ink patterns on the 'negative'. The printer works
beautifully normally, but the Pictorico appears to allow no spreading
of the ink dots, so they don't merge to an even coating.
(This was printing Vandyke Brown on a very smooth paper - Bergger
COT320)

I suspect there was sufficient density, but never bothered to try to
make some proper curves because of the patterns. I was thinking of
looking at a more recent, and preferably cheap, A4 sized printer to
see if that would work better, and had been planning to ask others
here for advice.
