re: Chicago this weekend
There are gallery listings in in the weekly
alternative paper "Chicago Reader" www.chireader.com.
One thing caught my eye.
The Around the Coyote winter festival is listed, tons
of newer/poorer/younger artists are in the Wicker
Park/Bucktown area.
Not photo-specific & quality will vary, don't expect
it to look like the Art Insitute. But there's bound to
be gems in there.
Here's the Reader listing:
"AROUND THE COYOTE kicks off its fourth annual winter
arts fest with a free reception for its "curator's
choice" exhibit and silent auction Thursday, February
6, 6-10 pm, at ATC Space, room 352 in the Flat Iron
Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee. Large group shows
throughout that building and the Northwest Tower
Building, 1608 N. Milwaukee, then run Friday, February
7, 6-10, Saturday, February 8, 11-10, and Sunday,
February 9, 11-6 ($5 a day); a film and video
screening takes place Friday at 7 at the Note, 1565 N.
Milwaukee ($7), dance performances Friday and Saturday
at 8 and Sunday at 2 at Chicago Actor's Studio, 1567
N. Milwaukee. 773-342-6777 "
It's a 20 minute train ride from downtown. Take the
Blue Line O'Hare subway to North Ave. The Flatiron
Building is visible when you walk out of the station.
By car, exit the Kennedy expressway at North Ave head
a short distance west to the 3-way intersection of
North, Milwaukee & Damen.
