thank you for the explanation. I think I now understand the principle.
Opened the cover and found nine! variable resistors, one for zeroing and the others for fine tuning as you said. Looks like a very sophisticated wheatstone-bridge and I better donīt touch them without manual ready to hand. Those eight resistors seem to be responsible for calibrating the different segments of the scale, donīt they?
BTW: The model is a TD 102, not a ST 102, sorry... Do you have any idea where to get the manual from?
