I wonder if you could be a little more specific about your nays, Martin.
But also your yay, the no-name, since I also got great results from a
similar paper (from Aboveground here in Toronto), and i'm not sure i can
find it anymore (they rearranged the store!)
I've had usable results from photo paper, even glossy Fuji colour paper.
One of my faves was a no-name roll of rice paper used for Chinese
painting (examples at http://imagearts.ryerson.ca/kerickson/cyano1.html
, etc.)
I've had widely variable results from BFK Rives--from extremely rich
navy blues to very turquoise (with the same ferri and fe cit.)
I've also been occasionally disappointed with Arches Platine due to some
form of mottling (I've since read from something in the sizing or uneven
coating of it). But usually it's stunning (e.g.
