photobatik

"Photobatik" is a special painting technique by Yoshio Machida. It's made from the only process of development without any cameras. Photobatik is a kind of painting, not photogram. In photogram, some exposured area and some unexposured area exist. On photopaper, exposured area becomes black, and unexposured area becomes white. The image is formed as the result. But in Photobatik, there is no unexposured area. All the image in Photobatik is made by developer, acetic acid(stopper) , fixer and light. This making process is the same as batik's one. Photopaper instead of cloth, and acetic acid or fixer instead of wax are used. The making process of photogram is "partial exposure and whole development", but in Photobatik, it's "whole exposure and partial development". Exhibition photos
