It may be that lack of "fixing' in sodium sulphite affects long-term stability of the negatives. I would have thought that you are safe to go back and wash them in sodium sulphite and then water, just as it is possible to go back and refix and wash silver negatives in general.

Subject: Polaroid 55
I have a question about Type 55 Polaroid and the Sodium Sulfite. I usually wash these negatives [which is what I expose for] in water. I haven't had any problems with the Polaroid film.
The question is, if I get the Sodium Sulfite now, should I leave the negatives that are done alone or can I go back and immerse the negatives in this clearing bath? I use these successfully with the PA/PL and Cyanotype processes.
Thoughts, please?
