Hi there,
I'm currently in a Photo 102 class, where we getting ready to do a Van Dyke project. Unfortunately, my teacher hasn't been that- expressive, or precise, regarding the exact method of this technique.
Last week, we made our ortho positives, and yesterday we attempted to make our ortho negatives. We (meaning an entire darkroom full of students) were quite confused about what our ortho negatives *should* look like in order to make a good Van Dyke. As a matter of fact, we don't even have an idea of what a Van Dyke will look like (period).
Our book just glosses over this technique, but doesn't go into any sort of detail. I'm wondering if there is a good web resource that goes over this process... from making the negative, to the making of the van dyke itself, in idiot-proof detail. Also, I'm interested in finding a visual resource that will show me what it is exactly we are working towards.
