Your answer about the "amadol" question is really good,so I can only give a
supplement :
In the book "Vergroten" ( = to enlarge) aut : A.Boer (a famous Dutch
promotor of photography before World War II ) ,revised by his son D.Boer;
9th edition 1956, on page 106 there is a formula for developer with amidol
guaranteed to keep fresh for months (2 or more) :
water ( boiled or demi ) 600 ml
metol
0.5 g
sodium sulfite ( Na2SO3 .7 H2O ) 20 g
amidol
2.5 g
works perfect , produces a real black print.
Developers with amidol don't tan gelatine , so they are very well suited for
bromoil.
