Well, Dave and I agree on something. I tried to view Galina's website
using 3 different browsers on a 100baseT connection: MS-IE, Mozilla
Firebird and Netscape - all appeared to "hang." Based on Dave's comments
I suspect that the site may have been downloading data, but there was no
indication of that (bad design - IMHO).

Unfortunately, too many photographers use Flash - I'm not sure why
that is. The concept behind the WWW was universal accessibility using
standardized conventions for data and display, thus I'm not a fan of
ANY website that requires me to use software which is not in the
public domain to view it (I hate RealPlayer for example).
Macromedia's Flash is IMHO a real a pain if you're on a dial-up
connection or if the bandwidth load is high. Some sites, at least,
give you the opportunity to turn Flash off when you arrive.

I do think Dave's rhetoric was a bit heavy handed (but then my machine
didn't crash) so in Galina's defense I will say that there is a better
than not chance that her site may be faster for folks on the "other
side of the pond." For people not located in Europe I suspect the
site will always be slow as long as it relies on third party software
for it's operation.
