Couldn't you just (on a scrap print) do a silver bleach -- potassium
ferricyanide or the like -- and then fix? It wouldn't do the fine reading
x-ray spectrophagyoscopography provides, but you could do it at home in 5
minutes. A densitometer check before & after would tell if silver was
being removed, after which you could look for specifics with high tech
instruments..
