Hi Jan,
I'm in Istanbul. You can find all kinds of 35mm film (except IR) here
but when it comes to medium format and *especially* large format the
selection limited. Photographic suppliers are accumulated in Sirkeci
district. There are no galleries featuring alt. photographs, simply
because there is no one doing alt. processes (know just one person other
than me doing alt. processes - and I just started; I'm a total
rookie...)
Will give you keywords about the places you can photograph:
* Eminonu (The New Mosque, The Spice Bazaar, Galata Bridge and around
the ferries),
* Suleymaniye mosque (especially the old quarter around it - Hodja
Giyaseddin),
* Galata Tower,
* Beyoglu (Istiklal Road - Grand Rue de Pera, nice crowded place for
street photography),
* Sultanahmet Mosque - square - district, Hagia Sophia,
* Balat, Fener (very old quarters by the Golden Horn)
* The Prince Islands

Istanbul is full of photographic opportunities.
