I thought folks might enjoy hearing of some of the upcoming release of
Photoshop 8/Photoshop CS is going to include a number of things that are going to
benefit photographers.

1. An image stitching feature that uses layers. Sounds really interesting
for those of you using large format film where you have to scan the negatives
in sections.

2. More features work in 16 bit mode—this is great! It appears that you
can have layers in 16 bit mode!!!! More tools also work in 16 bit mode!

3. Upsampling images—apparently this version has new algorithsm for
upsampling that are considered superior to anything else, including genuine fractals,
and stair step upsampling.

4. Output Histograms—PRAISE BABY JESUS! ...you get a Histogram PALLETTE
that shows the effect of your levels or curves adjustment!!!! I have this in my
scanning software and it is invaluable.

5. The Camera Raw plugin is built into this new version. Thus you can
access your digital camera files at 16 bit and make camera like corrections as
you import them into Photoshop.

6. Improved Browser features and speed-if you don't use the browser, you
should. It gives you a wonderful way to access your images and organize them.
You can move files with it, copy them, delte them, and do a number of things
that are very helpful when working with a group of imge files.

7. Kodak Wratten Series Filters—adjust your image based on these filters

8. A new tool called Shadow/Highlight Tool, which lets you adjust exactly
that—not sure how destructive this tool might be compared to other methods of
adjustment.

anyway..... lots of great new features! Download the PDF shown below.

Mac users will groan when they hear it only runs on OS X

Enjoy!
