This is really off the subject...but in answer to your question--Helms
is still alive--around 84--in and out of the hospital a lot and pretty
frail. I don't think he's currently doing any serious damage, though he
did vote this year... He maintains the Jesse Helms Center
Foundation, which--in part--"promotes traditional American values..."
and invites folks like Condaleeza Rice to speak. And not exactly a
"photo essay," but for what it's worth--here's a link on what he was up

Now I wish I could segue this back into a topic about alt
processes....so....Speaking of antiquated things... I would love to
take a daguerreotype workshop. How difficult/expensive/time
consuming/toxic is this process? I'm not even sure I spelled it
correctly..
