The simplest method to see the Heliochrome-phenomenon, make a salt paper and leave it to darken on the sunlight. When the paper reach the darkest level place it to a copy frame with a (very) colour slide and leave on the sunlight for a few days and sometimes control the the picture on the paper.
The result would be (in a lucky case) a colour (direct) positive picture. Not with the high level colours but with some colours.
Naturally the heliochromists tried with a lot of modifications by their experiments but as I know because the necessary enormous long exposition and the impossible fixation and the physical borders of the enough good colour rendition they could not to made a version which able to use for a normal photographic practice.
