I did a workshop for kids in that range, from 9-14 years of age. We
had several old Polaroid pack cameras (via ebay.. I like the 250) and
Polaroid 665. You can then adjust the negative processing to
accomodate either cyanotypes or VDB. We used small pieces of plywood,
a towel for padding, two small "A" clamps, and a sheet of plexiglas
for a contact frame. Helix has the best price on 665 film $9.25 for a
box of ten.
Most of the "smart ones" got wildly creative, but most just enjoyed a
portrait their buddies took. We had to have about two or three
assistants with the 24 schoolkids.
I think the pinhole project is equally viable.
Your mileage may vary.

Subject: 6th Grader Alt-Process Recommendation
I am looking for a alt-process project recommendation for a class of
6th
graders. Does anyone on the list have any experience with this age
group or
ideas? Ideally the project would be something the class could do as a
group,
but individual projects will work as well. The project also can't be
overly
time consuming--under 15 hours or so total.
I was thinking of Cyanotype photograms, but they didn't sound all that
exciting to my sixth grader.
Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Mark
