Hey Clay,

Over the years I've seen Epson printers like your 1280 suddenly develop
problems like you describe. The printer can stll make great prints, but
the demands of negatives reveals the banding.

A printer that has its heads aligned perfectly can make a beautiful neg
(or print) in High Speed mode. You might try printing Low Speed (if you
aren't already) to see if anything changes. If so, run the head alignment
routine.

Assuming you've done all the nozzle tests and such, you might have a nice
"printer" on your desk but a lousy negative-maker.
